Dear friends at SAMP!
It's been a while since the last time I played SA-MP, but I have found my way back to the game and the multiplayer environment. Some of you may remember me, others might not.
I am Jay, formally known as Specializer/Jay, and have been part of the ValhallaGaming/ModernTopia/Serenity Gaming/ExtremeCore administration and roleplay environment since 2008 (time flies pfiew).
It all started for me somewhere in the summer of 2008 when I joined ValhallaGaming in the beginning of the Godfather script (when it all took place in San Fierro). Stayed there for a very long time, became a Lead/Head Administrator under the former SainT owner and later under Yoshira's ownership. I've been a head webdeveloper & webdesigner in that community until a lot of disagreements arose within the admin team. That led to a newly formed Moderntopia community, where I became head administrator in a small team of programmers. We stopped using the Godfather script and developed a completely new script based on MySQL. I actively worked on an online player control panel, which was released later and then started its own life ever since thanks to the input of the SAMP community.
After a while Moderntopia ceased to exist as a community due to the large time we spent on the script, which caused players to become impatient and left (can't blame them). We lost the motivation to continue and eventually stopped. I returned to ValhallaGaming and then decided with Yoshira (the owner) to form ExtremeCore in April 2009. We had some great fun in that community, great scripters, great server, cash wasn't a problem at all and we were able to pay for this without any community input/donations.
Why didn't things work out?
Things never work out the way you want it to. It seemed for some reason the community was too impatient for scripters to do their work and there were too many alternatives (Cops & Robbers, plenty of roleplay servers). It didn't work out as we hoped it would and you don't stand out as a new community, as you'll be the next in a million. No one knows if the next community is a keeper or just a crappy new community based on that oh-so-old Godfather script.
What is different this time?
It's fair to note that I quit somewhere in 2011/2012 and came back yesterday (the 4th of February 2015) with a whole lot of new motivation. I currently work parttime as a business owner of my own IT & Design Agency, and besides that I work as an operations agent in an international environment giving me access to a great bunch of highly talented and motivated team of server administrators, designers and coders to build a booming community.
I would love to bring the SA-MP roleplaying experience from back in the day back to 2015 with a large community going for it. I just don't know how many players are still active, if players are interested in bringing this back, if there are still some good SA-MP coders out there and who are willing to participate in this.
I already got a team of 3 designers, 2 server hosters and 1 scripter/coder on standby to start immediately, as well as an already owned Dedicated Server Box located in Germany with DDoS security and everything attached to make it work. All I look for now is interested players and scripters to participate in this project. If there is no interest in this project, then obviously I will have to cancel this project pretty soon. However, one who never tries, never succeeds.
My interest goes out to the reactions to this idea, and hopefully people will take this serious and have a good think about their possible contribution (in the form of tasks/jobs) to this community. Perhaps some old friends that still remember me and know me for keeping my word and the talent I possess to make this work.
I am glad to be back here and I am looking out to the reactions!
My kind regards,
Jay!
