Computer vents randomly boot up to 1.4k+ RPM despite not doing anything

Hi.

I literally just put in my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (I had a 660 before) and somehow my vents got messed up (??). They randomly go up to 1.4k RPM (they are generally around 750 - 860 RPM) despite me not doing anything, and they sound incredibly unhealthy in general. This only started happening after I put in my new GPU. I'm not really an idiot, I'm almost certain I didn't do anything to harm my vents and I regularly clean them from dust.

Not sure if it's relevant but I'm running a Intel i5-3570 and three monitors on my GTX. If my 660 (and current set up) could handle them, surely the 680 wouldn't have any problems with them so I doubt that's the cause. I'm also a very caution person so I am usually watching my CPU usage and make sure my computer is performing OK using HWMonitor and at all times my computer usage was at it's lowest.

Do you guys have any idea what the issue might be? I'd provide more documentation but I'm not sure what exactly I can provide to help out.

P.S. I don't know alot about computers so please bare that in mind. (also been up all night so pls apart grammar mistakes)
